7 Free Image Hosting Sites for Your Photos

Upload Your Images to These Sites and Share Them Easily

Are there any good sites out there made purely for free image hosting? You bet there are.

We spend a lot of our time pushing information around on the web and sharing stuff with our friends, so free image hosting is basically a must-have these days.

Here are 7 of the best sites that offer free image hosting and make the process of uploading and sharing your images easier than ever.

1. Imgur

If you’ve spent any time at all on Reddit, you probably already know that Imgur is the favorite free image hosting site for Redditors. You don’t even need to sign-up for a free account if you prefer not to. Images from your computer’s hard drive can be uploaded to Imgur in a mere matter of seconds and can shared on your favorite social network with the simple click of a mouse. Images are hosted there for free as long as you need them to be there and as long as they are viewed at least once every six months. File sizes may be a maximum of 10 MB in size.

2. Flickr

Flickr is one of the most widely known photo sharing social networks currently out there. Not only does it offer free image hosting, but it’s also a great photo management system where you can organize your photos in albums and generate comments on your photos from the community. There are also privacy options if you want to share with a selected audience and the opportunity to easily upload from a variety of platforms including via the web, your mobile device, email or other photo applications. You can get a whopping 1 TB of storage space now with just a free Flickr account.

3. Photobucket

Photobucket has similar qualities that Flickr has. You can store, share and link to all your photos for free using Photobucket and easily share them on social networking sites. You get unlimited space for photo storage with a maximum display size of 2048 x 1536 pixels per photo and a maximum file size of 5 MB per photo. Photobucket also has apps for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry and an iPhoto plugin to make your image storage and sharing experience even more easy.

4. Image Shack

Image Shack is a great alternative that’s similar to Imgur for people who want a quick way to upload photos and manage their images. You can upload a photo and enter your email to upload and set up your free account at the same time. You can resize your photos with Image Shack so they fit avatars, the web or email, message boards, or your computer monitor. You are allowed to upload up to 500 files every month and unlimited images for Premium users. Photos will be stored on Image Shack forever as long ash they do not break the terms of service. File sizes permitted are 5 MB per photo for free members and 10 MB for Premium members.

5. FreeImageHosting.net

Another top site for free image hosting, this site is similar to Imgur but without the trendy layout and without the convenient hyperlink shortener. You can upload images without needing to create a free account first and FreeImageHosting.net provides you with a bunch of social media button links so you can share your images easily. Your images are stored on the site forever as long as they adhere to the terms of service and you may upload files that are a maximum of 3,000 KB in size.

6. PostImage.org

PostImage.org is a very simplified site that gives you free image hosting for life and something that most other free image hosting sites don’t give their users - the opportunity to host adult content, something usually against other photo hosting sites’ terms of service. This site is primarily used for hosting images for forums and comes with a simple image upload mod forum users can install and use. You can upload multiple images at a time and choose to resize them for avatar use, message boards, web, email or computer monitors.

7. ImgPlace.com

This is a very simple website that allows you to choose ten photo files and upload them all at once. You can also choose to have them resized to be used as an avatar, for email, for the web or for email, for message boards and for different sized computer monitors. Once uploaded, you are given a link or code to embed anywhere. Unfortunately, there are no options to share your image easily on social networking sites and image hyperlinks are kept quite long. A maximum size of 5 MB per photo is allowed. Although ImgPlace.com integrates much less features compared to other sites like Flickr or Photobucket, it’s a quick and simple option for free image hosting.
