The Bloglines site is split into a left side containing the menu and a right side containing the body. The menu allows you to navigate through your subscriptions and add new feeds. The body will display articles when a feed is selected, or options if you are choosing to add a feed or modify your settings.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes

Here's How:

  1. Make sure "Feeds" is the selected tab on the left and click on the "Add" link below the tabs.

  2. Type in the web address of the blog or feed. Most blogs are set up so that the feed will be automatically detected, so you should only need to input the blog's web address.

If you do need to input the feed's specific address, and you do not know how to find it, you can follow these instructions.

Once you have typed in the address, click on the subscribe button.

  3. If there is only one feed at the address, you will be presented with options for the subscription.

If there is more than one feed that comes up at that address, you will be asked to select which feed you want to subscribe to. You can click the name of the feed or the check box to select the appropriate feed. You can also select multiple feeds.

Below this list are the options for the subscription.

  4. Most of the default options are fine, but there are a few options you might be interested in changing.

The "Folder" option allows you to place the feed in a specific folder, or create a new folder if one does not already exist. If you choose "New Folder" a message box will pop up asking you to input the folder's name.

The "Display Preferences" option allows you to choose if you want to see full articles, or just a description. If you do not want to see the full text of every article, choose "Summaries if Available." Otherwise leaving this at the default setting is fine.

  5. Click on the subscribe button under the "Notes" option. The page will refresh, and your newly added blog will be in the menu system to the left.
