Are you ready to start tweeting, but you just don't know how to Twitter? Don't worry, using Twitter is as simple as signing on to the service and typing in a message. Once you get started, you can use Twitter to keep in touch with your friends, keep updated on the current news or even keep up with your favorite celebrities.
But first, a few basics on how to Twitter:
How to Join Twitter. This quick guide will run you through the basics of setting up a Twitter account.
How to Follow People on Twitter. It won't do you much good to join Twitter if you don't follow people, and this guide will let you know how to do just that.
Okay, you are set up and know the basics. What now? Let's try to send our first tweet out into the world. What's a tweet? It's simply what Twitter users call the messages sent out over the service. Twitter restricts messages to 140 character, which is the same limitation of text messaging on mobile phones, so start with something simple like what you ate for dinner or a line from your favorite song.
First, type your message into the text box under where it says "What's happening?" Notice how the number "140" at the top right decreases as you type? This lets you know if you are getting closed to the maximum number of letters. When you are finished, click the Update button.
There. You've sent your first tweet.
But that is not all there is to Twitter. There are many things you can do with Twitter, like keep track of the current news or keep up with celebrities. For example, if you live in Dallas, you can follow @dallas_news to get updates from the Dallas Morning News.
So how do you find your local newspaper, interesting magazines or favorite celebrity? Simply click on the Find People link at the top of the screen and type in who you want to find on Twitter. If it is a newspaper, just type in the name of the newspaper. Find out more about how to search Twitter.
