- Quick access to blog entries and videos about your favorite teams
- Compete against other fans and show your 'faniq'
- The website can be very confusing
- Social networking for sports nuts
- Compete against other fans by taking polls and answering trivia
- Brag about your FanIQ with their mobile scorecard
FanIQ is a website by sports nuts for sports nuts. It is a social networking website where fans can meet other fans and participate in tests of knowledge by answering different polls and comparing results.
After registering for an account, the user is asked to fill out a profile that includes your basic information and a sports bio listing favorite sports and favorite teams. This information is used to build a user page that will show recent blog posts and videos related to those favorite teams.
As with other social networking sites, you can meet people with similar interests, send private messages, post on the public forum, etc. But what sets FanIQ apart are the polls. These polls ask questions like "Who will win the Bears-Giants game and by how many points?" The more right answers you get, the more your FanIQ goes up, and the more bragging rights you have among the other users.
The neatest feature is probably the mobile scorecard that fans can put on their blogs and personal websites. This scorecard lets everyone know who you are, what teams you like, and what your FanIQ is.
It’s a fun site for any sports nut, but it can be extremely confusing. It's 'packed', which is to say that FanIQ is trying to do a lot in a very small space. For example, the profile page contains the following windows: Account Information, My Comments, My Prediction Results, My Videos, My Polls Created, My Mobile Scorecard, Awards Head to Head vs. Friends, My Trophy Case, My Awards and Accolades, My Accolades to Other Fans, My Prediction Stats, and My Clubhouse.
So, you can see how it can be a little crowded. But, for a sports nut, it might be worth taking the time to get used to these packed pages.
