Tagged.com is a social networking site similar to MySpace and Facebook. Initially targeted at high school students, Tagged.com is now open to users of any age. The name comes from the ability to 'tag' other users with images. Similar to other social networking sites, Tagged allows users to create their own profile, find friends and write on the walls of other friends among other activities.
Tagged.com Parental Warning: Questionable Advertisements
While Tagged.com was initially targeted at high school students, the social network has done a poor job of protecting its younger users. One major concern is the type of advertisements found on the social network. Many of the advertisements are for adult-oriented match-making services with questionable content for younger users.
Tagged.com Parental Warning: Inbox Spam
Tagged.com is notorious for spamming the entire address book of its users, which can lead to unwanted email sent to friends and family. This can be a special concern if you share a family email address. Tagged.com also frequently sends out emails saying that someone has viewed your profile in order to drive traffic back to the site, which creates extra inbox spam.
Tagged.com Parental Warning: Bots
While all social networks are the target of bots -- automated programs that download profile information and/or leave advertisements on user profiles -- Tagged.com has become especially overrun with them in recent months. It has also done a poor job of ferreting out these bot accounts, which means Tagged users can be invited to questionable websites including adult websites, phishing websites and websites containing malware.
