Which Custom Home Page Is Right For You?

From , former About.com Guide

It'sAStart

It'sAStart Custom Home Page

Description: It's a start is a good description of It'sAStart. While the custom start page is functional and has some of the features you would expect in a personalized start page, there really isn't anything new that it brings to the table. It also lacks tabs, and doesn't have quite the feature set of the big boys, so its only audience would be people who haven't yet discovered Netvibes, MyYahoo, or one of the other major start page engines.

LinkedFeed

LinkedFeed Custom Start Page

Description: Boasting that it is a mix between an RSS Reader, an AJAX custom home page, and a social network, Linkedfeed falls far short of its ambition. There are no social networking features -- unless they were well hidden -- and the site was very light on common features for personalized start pages. Still in beta, perhaps it can grow into its ambition.

Eskobo

Eskobo Custom Home Page

Description: Another custom start page that is still in beta, Eskobo doesn't currently offer much, and what it does offer is done better on other start pages. Without even additional tabs to organize your modules, it will be a race to see whether this personalized start page comes out of beta before the address leads to a file not found page.

24eyes

24eyes Custom Start Page

Description: 24eyes lies somewhere in between a custom start page and an RSS reader. In fact, it might be best described as an RSS reader with a start page's interface. Unfortunately, this hybrid can't really compare to either utility. Personalized start pages have far more features allowing you to put notepads and calenders on the page, and RSS readers allow for better grouping and viewing of web feeds.

Favoor

Favoor

Description: Favoor is still in beta testing, and by the looks of it, this custom start page might be in beta for a good long while. Looking like it was programmed in someone's basement, there's not much to this start page at the moment. Besides adding RSS feeds and adding a notepad, about the only thing you will be able to do is become frustrated at the lack of web usability.
