Sign up for an OpenID Account

By Daniel Nations, About.com

I would say that creating an OpenID account is easy, but that would be an understatement. In fact, saying it is very easy would still not explain just how easy it is to get your own OpenID account.

The only hard part is finding out where to go to sign up for it, and I've done that for you in step one.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes
Here's How:
  1. Go to www.myopenid.com. (In most browsers, you can right-click on the link and choose to open it in a new window.)

  2. Click on Sign Up For An OpenID -- it's towards the end of this short page and very prominent.

  3. Fill in your username, password, email, and the anti-automated-entry word.

  4. Wait for the email verification to arrive in your inbox and click on the link it provides to activate your account.

  5. You can now begin using your new OpenID account on any website or blog that supports OpenID. You can do this by putting your personal myopenid.com url in the following format: http://username.myopenid.com

So, if your username is Bob you would enter: http://bob.myopenid.com
