What is a Linkback?

By Daniel Nations, About.com

Definition:

A linkback refers to mentioning a website, blog or article in your own blog or article and providing a "link back" to the original.

It is commonly used when quoting part of a blog entry or news article as a way of attributing the quote.

Because linkbacks help drive traffic to a blog or website and help their ranking in search engines, linkbacks are often thought of as almost a form of currency on the web.
