90s Tamagotchi Trend Magically Brought Back to Life Through New Mobile App

By February 15, 2013

Anyone in their 20s is going to absolutely love this. The clunky, plastic, Japanese egg-shaped Tamagotchi virtual pets that we all once obsessed over are back from the 90s. And this time, in 2013, they're on your smartphone. Android to be specific.

The new Tamagotchi app just released by Bandai features all the nostalgic, 16-bit graphics and activity functions we used to distract ourselves with in the schoolyard. Just like the original, you can do things like feed your pet, play with it and mak sure it has healthy bowel movements. Better yet, everything is now in color and has social media integration so you can share your pet's accomplishments with your friends on Facebook.

Seriously, what more could you ask for? This is probably one of the best old school trends to be brought back to life through modern day technology. And it's something that a lot of people will actually be excited about. You can get it for free from Google Play. iPhone friends: sorry, but you'll have to wait for this to become available for the iOS platform.
