Wow, what a crazy effort Myspace is making to try and reinvent itself on the web. Although we already knew that a revamp like this was eventually coming, the "new Myspace" only opened itself up to the public yesterday.
Nobody seemed to care all that much about the Myspace news due to Facebook's big feature that was announced on the same day. Thank goodness Justin Timberlake was able to step in and help make the Myspace thing at least little more interesting.
The overhauled social network launched along with Justin's new single "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z, as clearly seen by the gigantic ad stretched clear across the front page. It's obvious that Myspace is really trying to push the music thing here, and that will likely be its ultimate focus for the future.
I signed up, I poked around, I posted a couple generic notes on my profile and then I left. The new design is quite nice, but I don't see myself using it regularly at all. For a lot of people, the Myspace trend died a long time ago. A fancy new UI is great, but it certainly doesn't guarantee success.
