Business Insider has apparently gotten a hold on some juicy details about the future plans of the once dominant social networking site Myspace. The business news site reported this morning that the parent company of Myspace has set a goal to raise $50 million for a relaunch, and get this--position Myspace as a direct competitor to music streaming giants like Spotify and Pandora.
The deck of slides that Business Insider obtained reveals material compared between Spotify, Pandora and Myspace. Less than two months ago, Myspace revealed a teaser video of its completely overhauled social platform rebuilt from scratch, which hasn't gone live yet but is currently accepting invite requests for the beta launch.
Myspace sure has some ambitious plans. Despite a complete UI overhaul and an aggressive plan to go up against the leaders in music streaming, there's no telling whether or not it can be completely revived this late in the game. It sure would make for a huge success story though, and I wish the Myspace team the best of luck... because I think they're really going to need it.
