People absolutely love sharing their Instagram photos on Twitter, but streamlining the sharing experience between the two has been difficult for users that have different @usernames for both services.
Yesterday, Instagram published a blog update explaining that sharing Instagram photos on Twitter would be more seamless now that the service can translate @usernames.
From the Instagram blog:
If the @mentioned user has integrated Instagram with Twitter:
- The user's Instagram username will show in the photo caption
- The user's Twitter username will show in the tweet
If the @mentioned user hasn't integrated Instagram with Twitter:
- The user's Instagram username will show in the photo caption
- The @ sign will be take away from the username when shared on Twitter
For @mentions that can't be matched to any Instagram usernames, the @ sign will stay there when shared to Twitter.
