Want to get a jump on the next version of the Firefox browser? Release Candidate 1 for Firefox 3.6 is now available for download. Browser speed was one of the big points of emphasis for this release, and the new version should load page faster thanks to improved JavaScript performance and the ability to run scripts asynchronously. Firefox 3.6 also includes personas, which let you quickly and easily change the look-and-feel if the browser, and has the ability to run video in full screen mode.

As a release candidate, expect there to be a few speed bumps. But since release candidates straddle the line between beta and official release, most people probably won't tell the difference. And the release candidate will automatically update, so there will be no reason to download the official version later.

You can download Firefox 3.6 release candidate 1 here or read the release notes.
