Does Anyone Like the New Yahoo.com?

By October 19, 2009

Follow me on:

It's been three months since Yahoo started asking users to check out the new Yahoo.com, but how many people actually prefer the new Yahoo over the classic view? The comments on my comparison of the two were mostly negative in regards to the new look.

Personally, the only time I use it is when I accidentally click the link trying to get to MyYahoo. I'm a big fan of MyYahoo, using it to separate out different custom Google News feeds I've created to keep up with various topics. MyYahoo is a great RSS reader if you don't have oodles of feeds going into it. So, naturally, the placement of the New Yahoo.com link in the same place where the old MyYahoo link existed quickly rose to my biggest gripe about the new home page.

That, and the fact that the new home page -- as one commenter put it -- "blows".

What about you? Do you prefer the classic view of Yahoo or the new Yahoo.com? Place your vote.

I prefer the classic page. It’s not that I don’t like change, I just find it easier to navigate and read. The new page is too busy and looks a little bland.

I especially hate the new email set up and every time they try to change me over to it, I request the classic version.

This new version of yahoo brings to mind the time that Classic Coke changed to new Coke. And promptly changed back after all the negative feedback. There’s a lesson here Yahoo, do you get it?
