Did Facebook Buy a Movie Spot For MySpace?

Monday June 29, 2009

We've all heard about product placement, but is there such a thing as anti-product placement?

My wife and I watched He's Just Not That Into You last night, and while we thought the movie was rather pedestrian, I did get a kick out of how they portrayed MySpace as a site mainly used for hook ups. And the part I found particularly funny was how Drew Barrymore's character cancels her MySpace account after finding her true love.

I've got a feeling that MySpace wasn't behind that product placement. But I could see Facebook buying into it.

My guess: The sequel will have Tagged buying product placement to show it is a much better place for hooking up with the opposite sex. Of course, judging by how few laughs the film got out of us, the sequel may very well be called We're Just Not That Into This Flick.
