Tiger Woods Tees Off on Browser Gaming With Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online

Monday June 1, 2009

Too busy to get out to your favorite golf course? Too on-the-go to play video games? Tiger Woods has the answer in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online. This special version of the long-running golf series allows you to play the game online in a web browser, so there's no need to have a big-rig computer or carry around your PlayStation 3. If you've got Internet access, you can pop on and play.

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online will require a monthly subscription and starts out with several championship courses like Pebble Beach, TPC Sawgrass and St. Andrews. New courses will be available on a regular basis. One part game and one part social network, you'll be able to connect with fans and friends from around the world and go up against them in online matches and tournaments. The game is also built from the ground up for the casual and busy game player, so you'll be able to pause gameplay and resume when you have the time.

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online will run through a web browser

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online isn't the first big name game to hit the browser. QuakeLive has been in beta for quite some time and runs rather nicely. InstantAction is also putting out some rather sophisticated browser-based games.

While the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii look over their shoulders at the iPhone as a possible competitor in the future, it may just be the web browser that steals the show.
