Google Looks to Semantic Search for Future
Coming off a successful fourth quarter that comes during one of the worst economic times the country has faced in almost a century, Google CEO Eric Schmidt pointed out that search and search ads was the biggest market of untapped potential. He also let it slip that the future of search is a more semantic approach to search.
"Wouldn't it be nice if Google understood the meaning of your phrase but rather just the words that are in the phrase? We've made a lot of discoveries in that area that are going to roll out in the next little while."
Of course, this is easier said than done. Google recently let the masses take a glimpse into some of the more semantic features of their search engine, and the end result was Google reporting Jesus being born in 1963.
