StumbleUpon Presents New Way To Stumble

Wednesday October 1, 2008

With rumors that eBay is looking to sell them, StumbleUpon is rolling out a few new features including a way of stumbling across the web without installing the StumbleUpon toolbar as an add-on to your browser. This web-based StumbleUpon toolbar will provide some of the same basic functionality as the browser-based toolbar and should invite users that were previously incapable of using StumbleUpon due to their browser not supporting add-ons (such as Safari users).

While there are some mixed reports on the web calling this new toolbar a replacement for the old toolbars, the press representative for StumbleUpon assured me that the new web-based toolbar was simply another option and the traditional toolbar would still be supported. This is good because a web-based version may not have all the same functionality.

In addition to the new toolbar, StumbleUpon is redesigning the discovery experience in hopes of offering more relevant content based on a particular topic of interest. StumbleUpon is also partnering with several major websites including RollingStone.com and HowStuffWorks.com to provide the ability to easily stumble through these websites.
