The Battle of the Online Offices: Adobe vs Zoho
Adobe has the makings for a first class Office 2.0 suite with the release of Adobe Photoshop Express, their free online version of Photoshop. Adobe already has a great online word processor in Buzzword, and if they add a spreadsheet and some presentation software, they would have a solid office suite.
But they have a long ways to go if they want to catch up with Zoho who recently released Zoho Invoice to go along with a growing list of online office applications which already includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation software, and even a forms creator. Unlike some of their other offerings, Zoho Invoice isn't free, but it does have a free version that allows up to 5 invoices to be sent a month, and sending beyond that isn't too expensive.
But before Adobe catches up with Zoho, they may want to do an upgrade to their legal department. Tripp Fenderson found something nasty in their contract in which any photo posted to a public area would grant Adobe -- well, pretty much the right to do anything they wanted with the photo, including sell it to other people and not pay you a dime.
Adobe has been made aware of it and plans on making corrections to the contract. But they can't erase the damage already done -- that type of contract should certainly make people suspicious of Adobe's intent.
