Want to check Yahoo Maps without opening your browser? Or be able to check the local weather without going to Weather.com? Desktop widgets might be the answer you are searching for, and Yahoo has a gallery full of great little widgets. Everything from reading the New York Times to controlling iTunes like it was an iPod.

Now I know what a desktop widget is. The New York Times is great for keeping up with the latest news. The Map is great for a quick look without going to my maps that I can never find when I’m going to a specific road in my community to look for garage sales, etc.

And I forgot to add the sticky note. It’s already saved me some time since I tend to lose the notes I make each week of important things to do such as phone calls, bills to pay, appointments to keep, etc. Thanks to Guide Daniel Nations for introducing me to desktop widgets.
